Description of the flag

The flag was selected in a public contest organized by the Municipal administration, the School Council and the District Directorate of Education under the name 'A flag for my town". The winners are Mariano Bruschi and Lucas Alonso.

The flag is blue with an horizontal wavy white stripe in the middle and an emblem made of half a golden yellow sun and half a blue cog wheel, sumonting ten wheat grains placed in a semi-circualr pattern.

The blue color represents the sky and its waters. The wavy stripe represents river Salado.

The sun, made of geometrical elements representing the development of the new technologies, symbolizes the culture's light and the man's wisdom. The orange line separating the heart of the sun from the rays symbolizes strength and loyalty. The cog wheel, a symbol of industry, represents the human activities. The grains represent agriculture, at the origin of the town.

The flag has no reverse. Its upper edge is the sky, while the grains, found in the soil, represents its lower edge. The sun on the hoist side represents the west, recalling the location of Chivilcoy in the Buenos Aires Province. The cog wheel on the fly side represents the east, a signal of growth and prosperity.
