About Comando de Transportes Navales

Comando de Transportes Navales. The Naval Transport Command or COTN formed in 1948 which is shown both by the book La Marina Mercante Argentina (1961) and Lloyds as a commercial company despite its naval connection. Still operating, but through Servicio de Transportes Navales.

Flag

The flag shown by the book La Marina Mercante Argentina (1961) is not very clear, but appears to be a blue pennant with the hoist being the triband of the national flag with the Sun of May arranged vertically, the main field being a darker shade of blue and bearing an emblem, probably a badge of which the only part that can be distinguished is an anchor with the whole being angled towards upper hoist. There are two groups of lettering on the main field, the first in its "hoist" being the white letters "ARA" arranged vertically which will stand for "Armada República Argentina" whilst arranged horizontally towards the fly are two black words in very small lettering. The 1st is "TRANSPORTES" so the 2nd is probably "NAVALES" [see image].
