About the Yacht Club Argentino

"Yacht Club Argentino" (YCA), today with more than 3,000 members, was founded by Hortensio Aguirre Anchorena on 2 July 1883, succeeding the short-lived "Boating Society" (1861) and "Yacht Club Nacional" (1882).

The YCA organized its first international regatta in 1886. In 1906-1907, it was a founding member, representing Argentina, of the International Yacht Racing Union (subsequently renamed International Sailing Federation); the club played a similar role in the foundation of the Union Internationale Motonautique in 1927.
