The Belgian national flag shall be hoisted on public buildings on
official days, and can also be hoisted for important ceremonies,
when locally customary, or for the visit of the head of a foreign
state.
The official days are :
17 February: Commemoration of all the defunct members of the
Royal Family
7 April: Hommage to the Belgian soldiers deceased during
peace-keeping missions
15 November: King's Feast. King's Feast is celebrated on 15
November, St. Leopold's Day. In 1951, King Baudoin decided to
maintain the Feast on 15 November. So did his brother Albert II.
The name "Dynasty Feast" was used during the Regency of Prince
Charles. This name was erroneous, as stated by a Decree in 1953.
Movable feast: Elections for the
European Parliament (elected by
universal suffrage since 1979).
The Regions and Communities shall hoist, along with the national
flag, their respective flag on their respective days:
27 September: Day of the French
Community, commemorating the
victory of the patriots on the Dutch troops in Brussels Park
(1830).
11 July: Day of the Flemish
Community, commemorating the Battle of the Golden Spurs,
during which the count of Flanders, with the help of the municipal
militias, defeated the troops of the King of France, near
Kortrijk (1302)
