About the Flag

The municipality of Santa Lúcia (3,926 inhabitants in 2010; 11,686 ha) is located 550 km west of Curitiba.

Santa Lúcia was established in the 1960s by Orlando Luiz Zamprônio, tax collector in the town of Campanema. During one of his voyages, he stopped near a freshwater source but had an eye injured by a tree branch. He invoked St. Lucy and promised to name the place after her would his vision not be impaired, which happened.
The municipality of Santa Lúcia was established on 9 May 1990, separating from Capitão Leônidas Marques.
