About the Flag

The municipality of São Jorge do Ivaí (5,508 inhabitants in 2010; 31,509 ha) is located 520 km north-west of Curitiba.

São Jorge do Ivaí was established in 1946 by Companhia de Terras Norte do Paraná. Clearing and set-up of urban and rural plots were managed by Ibrahim Euclides Rodrigues and Osvaldo Marcondes Barbosa.
The district of São Jorge was established, as part of the municipality of Mandaguaçu, by Municipal Law No. 17 promulgated on 17 April 1953. The municipality of São Jorge was established by State Law No. 253 promulgated on 26 November 1954 and inaugurated on 8 December 1955, to be eventually renamed to São Jorge do Ivaí by State Law No. 6,228 promulgated on 21 October 1971.

The flag of the municipality of São Jorge do Ivaí is rectangular, in proportions 14 units in width on 20 modules in length.
The proportions of the flag are identical to those of the national flag. The color shades are bright red for the St. George's cross and sky blue for the five-pointed star. The St. George's cross evokes the municipality's patron saint.
