About the Flag

The municipality of São Sebastião da Amoreira (8,968 inhabitants in 2010; 22,789 ha) is located 375 km north-west of Curitiba.

São Sebastião da Amoreira originates in the settlement of Amoreira (Mulberry), established after the split of Fazenda Três Barras. When a church dedicated to St. Sebastian was built, the place became known as São Sebastião da Amoreira.
The district of São Sebastião da Amoreira was established, as part of the municipality of Assaí, by State Law No. 2 promulgated on 10 October 1947. The municipality of Amoreira was established by State Law No. 790 promulgated on 14 November 1951, to be renamed to São Sebastião da Amoreira by Municipal Law No. 8 promulgated on 9 May 1964.

The flag of São Sebastião da Amoreira is horizontally divided in nine horizontal stripes, in turn black and white, charged with a yellow lozenge inscribing an emblem composed of a disc horizontally divided green-white, the white part inscribed on top with "14 de NOVEMBRO de 1951", beneath the disc a coffee plant and a cotton plant.

The date written on the flag was changed by Municipal Law No. 1,357 promulgated on 22 October 2015.

Article 6.
Considering that São Sebastião da Amoreira was elevated a municipality by State Law No. 790 promulgated in 1951, the chronological representation on the flag of the municipality shall be altered as shown on Appendix V of the present Law.
