The Town of Minitonas, Manitoba (approximate population: 590) is
known to have some of the friendliest people in this province. The municipality's name comes
from an aboriginal word meaning "isolated hill", a reference to the hills located to the South
of this community and Duck Mountain Provincial Park. The agricultural heritage of the region is
reflected in the dominate display of a sunflower on the flag. According to the Mayor, Henry Barkowski,
this flag was publicly displayed officially on July 1, 2007.
