Weimarer Land Coat of Arms

The arms combine elements from the arms of the territories to which the district historically belonged: the lion in the sinister half symbolises the lions of the Dukes of Sachsen-Weimar-Eisenach, the Counts of Orlamünde and the Counts of Gleichen, the wheel in the first quarter is the arms of the Archbishopric of Mainz, and in the third quarter the apples are canting for the city of Apolda and were used by the governors of Apolda.
