Description of banner:
It is a white-blue-white banner. The ratio between the vertical stripes is 1:3:1. The coat of arms is within the red stripe shifted to the top.
Description of coat of arms:
In a silver(=white) shield is a blue St.Andrews cross (saltire).
Meaning:
Andrew was patron of the church of Velmede. His cross had been chosen because the territory of the municipality is just that one of medieval Velmede parish. The colours were those ones of the Counts of Arnsberg, however the version that was given by the Archbishops of Köln in the 18th century.
