Bad Schussenried Coat of Arms

Shield Argent, a sinister facing lion rampant double queued Gules.
Meaning:
The arms display the (apocryphal) arms of the Lords of Schussenried, who founded the Schussenried Abbey in 1183. The abbey gained the local cognisance in 1512, ruled the city and the surrounding area until 1802 under direct imperial rule. The lion first appeared in local seals around 1600. The design nowadays has been slightly simplified. In 1966 Schussenried gained the title of a spa and was renamed into Bad Schussenried.
