Dettingen Coat of Arms

Shield parted per pale, at dexter Or a lion rampant Gules, at sinister Gules a pale wavy Or.
Around 1912 a coat of arms was placed into the village mayor's seal. The background colour of the shield was given as red in Petra Sancta code. A kind of canton in sinister base, obviously falsified by the engraver, displayed four rows of shingles. In fact the canton should be lozengy of blue and white, in order to remind on Bavarian rights in the village. The lion in the current arms is representing the Rechberg kin, which owned the village from approx. 1326 until 1790. The pale wavy is representing Iller River.
