Wolfen has 40,000 inhabitants and is part of Bitterfeld county. The flag
is black-yellow with the arms in the centre. The colours of the stripes
are not derived from the arms, but are a reference to Saxony-Anhalt.
The charges in the arms stand for the industries located in the town:
- a flask for the chemical industry,
- wheat for the rural industry,
- part of a film roll and
- mining tools.
