Introduction: Alb-Donau-Kreis

Falko Schmidt was informed by the county-office of the Alb-Donau-Kreis that the governing council of Tübingen granted the Landkreis on 7 Apr 2004 the permission to display its own flag. The colors are derived from the arms of the Kreis. The flag may be used as a banner with or without arms.
Jens Pattke, 9 Dec 2004

The arms are identical to the arms of the former district of Ulm, they were granted on 24 May 1954 and reconfirmed on 5 Nov 1975. (Linder and Olzog, 1996.) The eagle is derived from the arms of the old Imperial city of Ulm. The breast-shield shows the combined arms of Württemberg and Burgau. A large part of the district historically belonged to Württemberg (deer antlers) and another to the (Austrian) county of Burgau.
