Pilsting Coat of Arms

Shield Argent a frog Vert.
Meaning:
Pilsting was first mentioned as a market town in 1380. The town was surrounded by swamps, which had been mentioned until 1721. This is probably symbolised by the frog. A charter of the arms granted by the Bavarian Dukes, probably from the 2nd half of the 15th century, had been destroyed by a conflagration in 1789. The first seal is known by prints since 1514 and displayed the current pattern in a Spanish shield. The arms were depicted in the rolls of arms of Philipp Apian (1562) and Hans Mielich (1565). Since 1800 the background colour of the arms had been red. The silver background was restored by Otto Hupp in 1912.

The banner probably is used without approval. The arms were granted in the 15th century.
