Altmannstein Coat of Arms

Shield parted per bend of Sable and Argent, two trefoils with stems in counterchanged tinctures.
Meaning:
The old tinctures are those of the Imperial Barons of Abensberg. The Altmann kin is an offspring of its older branch. Its members built the local castle before 1220. The pattern of the arms is known from seals since the 14th century. It appeared the same time, when the older branch of the family acquired Altmannstein. The family was succeeded by the Wittelbach kin in 1485, but the arms were not changed. The trefoils had been a local symbol. The line of partition was introduced in the 19th century. The tinctures changed various times.

The arms are traditional and the banner has never been approved officially.
