Burkhardtsdorf Coat of Arms

Shield Argent a monk statant dressed Sable holding a crozier Or by his dexter hand and a parchment Argent by his sinister hand, orle quartered of Sable and Or.
Meaning:
The arms probably display the name giver Burkhardt, an abbot of the Benedictine Kempnitz Monastery, twice mentioned in deeds from 1216 and 1218, when King Friedrich II guaranteed protection and all existing privileges to the abbot and his successors. The parchment is symbolising the deeds and the crozier the status of the monk as abbot. The arms are based on local seals, around 1900 the abbot was displayed also with mitre in a forest of firs on a local seal.
