It is a red-yellow horizontal bicolour with centred coat of arms. At the top is a black inscription "Stollberg" (1st line) "Erzgeb." (2nd line)

Meaning:
The three villages, predeceding Stollberg belonged to the Lordship of Stollberg, ruled by the Lords of Schönburg, as an imperial fiefdom. It was sold to the Kingdom of Böhmen in 1367, acquired by the Margraviate of Meißen 1422, by the Electorate of Sachsen in 1459, still being a Bohemian fiefdom. It was regained by the Lords of Schönburg in 1473. In 1564 the Saxonian electors from the Wettin kin gained complete control. Stollberg gained city rights in 1343. The arms are based on a city seal from the 13th century, which basically displayed the same pattern. The church, completely red at least until 1989, is considered to be a representation of the local parish church dedicated to St. Mary. Coronet and the tinctures red and blue in base are also referring to her as Celestial Queen.
