Moorenweis Coat of Arms

Shield Argent with base wavy Azure, a cross staff Gules and a key Gules in saltire between two bulrushes Sable leafed and stemmed Vert and issuant from base.
Meaning:
Base wavy and bulrushes are referring to the location near the fountain of the Maisach River and local swamps, they are furthermore punning elements. The cross staff is the attribute of St.Sixtus, the key that one of St.Peter, both co patron saints of the local parish church. The key furthermore is a differentiation of the arms of Wessobrunn Monastery, which displayed two crossed keys. The monastery owned estates in the village since the 13th century. The tinctures red and white are those of the Bishopric of Augsburg, to which the local parish belonged.
