Description of current flag:
The flag's ratio is 3:5. It is a 7-stripes flag, horizontally divided by alternating blue and white stripes. The coat of arms is in the centre of the flag.

Description of coat of arms:
The silver (= white) field is divided by a black centred cross, which is in the centre superimposed by a golden (= yellow) plough share. In the blue chief are three golden (=yellow) squirrels, holding nuts between their paws, ordered horizontally.
Meaning:
The cross is alluding to the municipality's name, the plough share is symbolizing agriculture. The squirrels are taken from the arms of the Wampen family, members of the local gentry of
Greifswald. The family had had great influence in the region.

The flag and was approved by minister of interior of Mecklenburg-Westpomerania on 19 November 2009, published in the roll of arms of Mecklenburg-Westpomerania as no. 0171, the coat of arms already on 15 October 1998.
