Coat of arms

Description of coat of arms:
The silver (= white) field is divided by a black centred cross, which is in the centre superimposed by a golden (= yellow) plough share. In the blue chief are three golden (=yellow) squirrels, holding nuts between their paws, ordered horizontally.
The cross is alluding to the municipality's name, the plough share is symbolizing agriculture. The squirrels are taken from the arms of the Wampen family, members of the local gentry of Greifswald. The family had had great influence in the region.
