Gaildorf Coat of Arms

Shield Gules, two rafter's hooks Argent in saltire, superimposed by a raft Argent.
The first seal appeared in 1404, when German King Ruprecht I, a member of the Wittelsbach kin, granted city rights to Gaildorf. The first seal from 1434 already displayed a raft in base of the shield, alluding to rafting on Kocher River. In the 19th century the arms were parted per fess, above Vert two rafter's hooks Argent, beneath Gules a raft Argent. Otto Hupp also displayed this pattern in 1906. The current pattern is a simplification, which is in use since 1931. The raft has been reduced two five beams in fess after 1971.

According to Klemens Stadler the existence of a, probably plain, white-red bicolour is proven since the 17th century.
