Description of flag:
The flag's ratio is 3:5. It is a yellow over red horizontal bicolour. At the hoist are two squares counterchanged. In the canton are the figures of the coat of arms without shield.
Description of coat of arms:
In a red field is a golden (=yellow) cross with a golden (=yellow) ball in each angle.
Meaning:
The cross is symbolizing the rule of the archbishops of Paderborn until 1803. The balls are said to be breads of St.Nicolas being patron saint of the local church. The image has been used since 1591.
