Thundorf Coat of Arms

Shield parted per fess; above Argent a demi-lion rampant double-queued issuant Sable, crowned, armed and tongued Gules, beneath Gules two mattocks Argent in saltire superimposed by a plough share of the same.
Meaning:
The lion is taken from the arms of the Lords of Rosenbach, who ruled more or less the area of the current municipality. He had also been part of the municipal arms of Rothhausen, which was incorporated into Thundorf in 1978. The mattocks are alluding to the fact that Rothhausen was established by forest clearance. The plough share is stressing the rural character of Theinfeld, a village, that belonged to Massbach Market Town until 1978. Red and white are the Franconian colours.
