Arnstein Coat of Arms

Shield Argent on central peak of a triplemount issuant Vert an eagle statant reguardant Sable with risen wings, armed Or and tongued Gules.
Meaning:
Arnstein had already certain city rights in the 13th century. The Bishop of Würzburg granted the rights of a market town and a proper courtyard in 1333. The arms are canting, displaying an eagle (Old German: Aar) on a stone (German: Stein). Already the oldest city seal, known by prints since 1378, displayed the same pattern, however with an eagle in usual posture, e.g. like that one on the German fedreal service flag. The wings are risen since the 15th century, the head is reguardant since the 19th century. The tinctures changed a few times. Among others the eagle was displayed on a blue shield with red bordure. The current tinctures were fixed by Otto Hupp, based on evidence from 1544 and 1593. These tinctures were officially confirmed in 1835.

The banner probably is in use without approval. The arms were confirmed in 1835.
