Gräfendorf Coat of Arms

Shield parted per fess, above Azure with bordure Argent a bend Argent charged with three annulets Azure, beneath parted per fess of Gules and Or with bordure Argent a watermill wheel in counterchanged tinctures.
Meaning:
The biggest part of the current municipality had been a possession of the Julius Hospital in Würzburg. The upper half displays the personal arms of Bishop Julius Echter of Mespelbrunn (1573 - 1617). His arms had also been arms of the hospital. The millwheel is alluding to the many watermills in the past alongside the Saale River. The tinctures red and golden had been those of the Lords of Thüngen, important manorial lords under the rule of the hospital.
