Kasendorf Coat of Arms

Shield parted per pale; at dexter quartered of Argent and Sable; at sinister Azure a cat guardant Argent climbing the line of partition.
Meaning:
The cat is not rampant, as her hind legs are not touching the base. Kasendorf gained the status of a market town in 1328. The first seal is mentioned in 1355. Seal prints are however not known before the early 15th century. Arms with the current pattern are known from 1581 and 1767. The quartered shield at dexter displays the family arms of the Burgraves of Nürnberg, local rulers since 1307. The cat is canting, as former names of the town had been Katzendorf and Katzenstadt, which means village of cats or city of cats.
