Meaning:
The flag colours are taken probably from the flag of Lower Saxony, which are the same as those of entire Germany. The demi-lion is a modification taken from the arms of the county and the Dukes of Braunschweig-Lüneburg

Meaning:
The pall wavy is symbolising Luhe River, the dolmen is alluding to the local necropolis with numerous dolmens.
