Sigmarszell Coat of Arms

Shield parted per fess; above Or a demi-bear Sable issuant tongued Gules and holding a trunk Sable in bend sinister upon his shoulder, beneath Argent a linden leaf Vert.
Meaning:
The upper half is a differentiation of the arms of the Benedictine St. Gallen Monastery. The village was ruled by a reeve of the monastery until the 16th century. The bear is the attribute of St. Gall, not only patron saint of the monastery but also of the parish church of Sigmarszell. The privilege of appointing a reeve was gained by the Free Imperial City of Wangen in 1591 and later by the Free Imperial City of Lindau, represented in the arms by the linden leaf. The latter acquired further estates in the village in 1661.
