Leidersbach Coat of Arms

Shield parted by a fess wavy Argent, above Vert three barrulets Argent superimposed by an open pair of scissors Argent, beneath Gules a 6-spokes wheel Argent.
Leidersbach was established in 1972 by a merger of Ebersbach, Leidersbach proper, Rossbach and Volkersbrunn. All these villages were acquired by the Archbishopric of Mainz, represented by the wheel and the tinctures red and silver, in the 13th century and remained its possessions until 1803. The barrulets are a representation of the so called stripe estates (German: Streifengüter), a typical local partition of the fields into narrow rectangular parcels of land. The scissors are stressing the importance of tailoring, which became an important business line in the 19th century and until the 1980ies more than half the population earned its living by tailoring. Before there had been only agriculture and sheep breeding. The fess wavy is canting and representing the name giving creeks Ebersbach, Leidersbach and Rossbach.
