Erharting Coat of Arms

Shield üarted per fess of Sable and Or, a lion rampant counterchanged, crowned tongued and armed Gules, on base wavy Gules a bend sinister Azure.
Meaning:
The base wavy is a representation of the little Isen River crossing the municipality. The bend sinister on a red field is taken from the arms of the Barons of Dornberg and Leonberg, who lived in the area since the 11th century. Dornberg Castle near Erharting had been their ancestral seat. The kin gained the title of a count in the 12th century. The lion is a combination of the arms of the Wittelsbach kin, a crowned golden lion in black, and the Archbishopric of Salzburg, a black lion in gold. Struggles between the dukes and the archbishops have given distinction to the local history. The struggles were ended by the Treaties of Erharting from 1254 and 1275.
