Delitzsch Coat of Arms

Shield Or two pales Azure, on heart point an inescutcheon Or in bend, charged with a lion rampant Sable.
Meaning:
Delitzsch was a possession of the Margraviate of Landsberg in 1207, became a part of the Margraviate of Brandenburg in 1291, later of the Duchy of Braunschweig, finally of the Margraviate of Meißen in 1347. Between 1657 and 1738 it belonged to the Principality of Sachsen-Merseburg and had been residence of the princes since 1690. The pattern of the arms was first displayed on a city seal from 1364. The pales display the arms of the Margraves of Landsberg, the inescutcheon those of the Margraves of Meißen.
