Meaning:
Palatine Count Johann of Neumarkt-Neunburg granted the rights of a market town in 1412. Two town seals from the 15th and 16th century displayed two canting firs (German: Tannen) on a mount (German: Berg), made of rocks. Between the firs had been the shield of the Electors and Palatine Counts of Rhine. The current version is based on an other seal from the 16th century. Already Philipp Apian displayed deciduous trees in 1568. The paintings in literature during the 19th century variied in minor details.
