Waldthurn Coat of Arms

Shield parted per fess, above Azure three embattled towers Argent connected by walls of the same, beneath Argent on the peaks of a triplemount issuant Vert three deciduous trees of the same.
Meaning:
The arms are canting, displaying three trees, representing a wood (German: Wald) and three towers (German: Türme). The arms of the Lords of Waldthurn, who ruled the namesake lordship from 1217 until 1308 also displayed an embattled tower as canting element. The tower was adopted by their successors, the Lords of Waldau, who sold the lordship in 1540 to the Wirsberger kin. The rights of a market town had been proven first in 1527. The current pattern first appeared on a town seal, which displayed the year "1649" and the word "Consulatus" in its circumscription. The pattern never changed since then. Arms appeared first in literature in 1898.

The banner probably is used without approval. The arms are known since 1649.
