Weitnau Coat of Arms

Shield Argent with base Gules, issuant from base a farmer, dressed by trousers and hat Sable and jacket Maron, holding a scythe Sable in pale bladed Azure.
In 1836 the town applied for proper arms. Proposed was a farmer in front of a landscape. But the Bavarian king insisted on arms of a "design due to heraldic rules" and simplified the draft. The farmer originally wore the local traditional costume, but Otto Hupp (1925) displayed the costume in Franconian style.
