Malente Municipal Coat of Arms

Shield parted per bend, at dexter Argent five bars wavy Azure, at sinister Gules, a watermill' wheel Sable lined Argent, issuant from the line of partition.
Meaning:
The five bars wavy are representing five local lakes, especially the Kellersee and the Dieksee, framing the municipality and giving the municipality a high touristic attractiveness. The millwheel is representing the Gremsmühle, a watermill owned by the Bishops of Eutin, nowadays being a wayside inn. The colours are more or less those of Schleswig-Holstein.

Flag and banner, being Schleswig-Holstein tricolours with additional municipal arms, have never been approved officially. The local people prefer the banner. The arms were approved on 18 May 1946 by British Military Government.
