Görisried Coat of Arms

Shield parted per pale, at dexter Or an ibex forcene Sable, at sinister parted per pale of Gules and Argent a mattock in bend sinister in counterchanged colours.
Meaning:
The mattock is referring to the fact that the village was created by foredst clearance. The sovereignty and the low level cognisance both had been divided between the Princely Abbey of Kempten and the Bishopric of Augsburg. The high level cognisance was under control of the abbey alone. The tinctures red and white are those of the bishopric. The dexter half displays the personal arms of Abbot Rupert Bodman (1678 - 1728).
