Vogtareuth Coat of Arms

Shield parted per pale, at dexter Gules a key Argent in pale, at sinister Argent a palm frond Gules in pale, an abased fess wavy parted per pale of Argent and Azure.
Meaning:
The arms are more or less those of the Imperial Abbey of St. Emmeram in Regensburg, which had been manorial lord and owner of the local cognisance from the 10th century until 1803. Since the 14th century Vogtareuth gained the status of a district (German: Hofmark) and since 1786 it was under direct imperial rule (German: Reichsunmittelbarkeit). Between 1803 and 1810 it was part of the Pricipality of Regensburg, a French pupper state. The fess wavy is representing the Inn River and was added to the arms as a distinguishing mark, as the arms of the abbey had also been part of the arms of other municipalities. The colours white and blue are those of the Wittelsbach kin, who had the sovereignty and the high cognisance.
