Wallerfangen Coat of Arms

Shield Azure, a millrind Argent, flanked in chief by a double armed cross or and in base by a 6-point star Or.
Meaning:
Wallerfangen gained city rights in the late 13th century, probably granted by Duke Friedrich III of Lothringen. It was seat of a German Ducal Authority (German: Oberamt) from the late Medieval until 1860, when Saarlouis became its successor and Wallerfangen descended to a mere village. The millrind could be found on local arms since 1608. The current pattern first appeared on a city seal with prints from 1614. The cross is a symbol of the Duchy of Lothringen and the star probably is symbolising the existence of an important regional court.
