Shield Argent, issuant from an inescutcheon barry of seven of Or and Sable a bishop, nimbed Or, dressed Gules with mitre of the same, holding a crozier Or by his dexter hand and a parchment by his sinister hand.
Meaning:
Lengenfeld was mentioned as a market town first in 1430 and again in 1577, in 1764 as a small city. A local council existed since 1503, an independent parish church since 1545. It had been part of the Vogtland and was acquired in 1422 by the Margraves of Meißen, in 1547 by the Reeves of Plauen and finally in 1569 by the Electors of Sachsen. A guild of clothiers was founded in 1562. Later the city was an important site of the production of linen, i.e. weaving and spinning. The inescutcheon is a differentiation of the family arms of the Ascanian kin. The bishop is St. Giles, the local patron saint.
