Due to a proposal from the State Archive the municipality adopted the family arms of the Maier of Tuningen kin, being bailiffs of St. Gallen Monastery and leaving the village in the 14th century. Their castle had been a fiefdom of Württemberg, which finally acquired the village in 1444.
