Municipality of Asendorf

Municipality of Asendorf (Samtgemeinde* Hanstedt / Harburg county / Lower Saxony).
Its ratio is 3:5. It's a red over white horizontal bicolour superimposed by the coat of arms.
Description of coat of arms: The shield is divided per fess. The chief shows a red Greek cross superimposed by a red saltire in a silver (=white) field. The base shows a silver arm holding a torn chain in its hand in a red field.
Meaning: The crosses are denoted as an 8-star, symbolizing the Nordic Gods and Goddesses from the Edda poem (germ: "Asen") who gave the village its name. The arm is that of old age hero Hinnark the strong who is said to have lived in Asendorf.
Source: I spotted this flag on 29 March 2007. The information about the coat of arms was taken from "Samtgemeinde Hanstedt Bürgerinformationen 2007/2008" p.22.
*A "Samtgemeinde", also called "collective municipality" is a combination of several municipalities to an administrative community in Lower Saxony.
