Klaus-Michael Schneider,
Potsdamer Ruder Club became a member o German Rowing Federation (DRV) in 1887 and was the first entry in the newly established club registry of the city of Potsdam in 1900. It was a rowing club for males only.
Til today several other rowing clubs merged with or joined the PRCG.
After WWII the club was banned by allied occupation government like any sports club in Germany.
The members tried to re-establish the club in 1947 as "Wannseer Ruder-Club", it was also planned as a new home for the members of former rowing club "Vineta" (also located in Potsdam). Due to difficulties a 2nd constituent meeting took place in the same year. As "Ruder-Club Havel" the club got a licence of the allied government.
In 1950 the club got permission to bear again its proper name "Potsdamer Ruder-Club".
After WWII a close cooperation with BRC 'Germania' had been established, which was intensified in 1960. In 1961 the PRC and 'Germania' merged forming the new club "Potsdamer Ruder-Club-Germania".
