The National Drug Control Directorate (Dirección Nacional de Control de Drogas, DNCD) is an independent agency of the Dominican Republic government under the direct jurisdiction of the President. The DNCD was created on 30 May 1988 through legislation regarding drugs and controlled substances, Public Law No. 50-88. The DNCD is responsible for "controlling and directing the national anti-drug intelligence systemcollecting, analyzing and disseminating strategic and operational intelligence informationin order to prevent and suppress production, trafficking, distribution and the illicit consumption of drugs and controlled substances throughout the national territory." The DNCD is also the lead agency for the Dominican Republic's national drug abuse prevention programs, and is the primary point of contact in international counter-drug efforts.
