The Instituto Postal Dominicana (INPOSDOM, or Dominican Postal Institute) is an independent agency of the Dominican Republic government charged with overseeing and operating the Dominican Republic's postal service. Originally established by Public Law No. 40 on Postal Communications in November 1963 as the General Post Office under the State Secretariat for Public Works and Communications, it became an independent agency in November 1985 by Law No. 307. INPOSDOM also acts as the Dominican Republic's connection to postal systems worldwide. Randy Young, 18 December 2016 Source:INPOSDOM website
