Description

The flag of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce is white with the emblem of the Ministry. The emblem is a cogwheel (Industry) whose upper part is filled like a barcode (Commerce) and lower part is filled like the national flag.

Background

The Ministry of Industry and Commerce (Ministerio de la Industria y Comercio, MIC) traces back to the Ministerio de Hacienda y Comercio, established in 1844 after the proclamation of independence of the Dominican Republic. Today's MIC was established by Decree No. 6,603 of 11 April 1961 and confirmed by Constitutional Law No. 290 of 12 August 1966.
