Presentation of Langa

The municipality of Langa (539 inhabitants in 2010; 2,400 ha; unofficial website) is located in the north of Ávila Province, 70 km of Ávila.

Langa is the birth place of the writer José Jimenéz Lozano (b. 1930; personal website), awarded in 1992 the Miguel de Cervantes Prize in Literature. A poet, novelist and journalist, Lozano worked for the Valladolid newspaper El Norte de Castilla, which he directed from 1992 to 1995.

Symbols of Langa

The flag and arms of Langa are prescribed by a Decree adopted on 31 January 1994 by the Provincial Executive, signed on 7 March 1994 by the President of the Government, and published on 21 March 1994 in the official gazette of Castilla y León, No. 55 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:

Flag: Rectangular, 1 m on 2 m, red. In the middle of the flag is placed the municipal coat of arms.
Coat of arms: Shield in Spanish shape. Per pale, 1. Or a shepherd's gate proper, 2. Vert three spikes or, grafted in base or an elm proper, a bordure azure three hawks or. The shield surmounted with a Royal crown.
