Presentation of Marchagaz

The municipality of Marchagaz (207 inhabitants in 2019 vs. 521 in 1960; 900 ha) is located 120 km north of Cáceres and 50 km north-west of Plasencia.
In February 2018, the extra virgin olive oil Oleosetín Passion, produced in Marchagaz by the family company Setin Rural, was awarded the first prize in the International Olive Oil Tasting, one of the world's most prestigious tasting event, organized that year in Cáceres by the International Oleiculture Council.

Flag of Marchagaz

The flag and arms of Marchagaz, adopted on 18 January 1994 by the Municipal Council and validated on 6 May and 17 October 1995 by the Royal Academy of History, are prescribed by an Order issued on 6 November 1995 by the Government of Extremadura and published on 14 November 1995 in the official gazette of Extremadura, No. 133, pp. 4,807-4,809 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:

Flag: Rectangular, in proportions 2:3. Composed of two horizontal stripes in proportions 3:4 and 1:4, the upper white with a red cross througout, with arm's width of 1/5 the hoist, and the lower green.
Coat of arms: Argent a cross of Saint James gules orled by two branches of o ive vert on a base of the same. The shield surmounted by a Royal crown closed.
