The municipality of Madrigal de la Vera (1,579 inhabitants in 2019; 4,200 ha) is located on the borders with Castilla-La Mancha (Province of Toledo) and Castilla y León (Province of Ávila), 170 km north-west of Cáceres and 50 km north-west of Navalmoral de la Mata.

Flag of Madrigal de la Vera

The flag (photo) and arms of Madrigal de la Vera, adopted on 23 December 1996 and 17 October 1997 by the Municipal Council and validated on 16 July 1997 and 17 February 1998 by the Assessing Council of Honors and Distinctions of the Government of Extremadura, are prescribed by an Order issued on 27 April 1998 by the Government of Extremadura and published on 4 June 1998 in the official gazette of Extremadura, No. 63, pp. 4,222-4,223 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:

Flag: Rectangular, in proportions 2:3. Composed of three horizontal stripes in proportions 4:6, 1:6 and 1:6, the upper green, the central black and the lower blue. Charged in the center with the crowned municipal coat of arms.
Coat of arms: Vert a bridge argent masoned sable over waves azure and argent surmounted by two parallel keys argent. The shield surmounted by a Royal crown closed.

The bridge represents the Roman bridge, aka Old Bridge, spanning over the Alardos Gorge. It was used by the old road connecting Plasencia to Ávila.
