The municipality of Valverde del Fresno (2,349 inhabitants in 2018 vs. 4,451 in 1960; 10,729 ha) is located on the borders with Portugal and the Province of Salamanca, 120 km north-west of Cáceres and 50 km north-west of Coria.

Flag of Valverde del Fresno

The flag and arms of Valverde del Fresno, adopted on 13 November 1992 and 15 February 1993 by the Municipal Council and validated on 15 February and 25 May 1993 by the Assessing Council of Honors and Distinctions of the Government of Extremadura, are prescribed by an Order issued on 4 June 1993 by the Government of Extremadura and published on 19 June 1993 in the official gazette of Extremadura, No. 72, pp. 1,801-1.802 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:

Flag: Rectangular, in proportions 2:3. Composed of three vertical stripes, in proportions 1:4, 1:2, and 1:4, red at hoist, white in the center with the municipal coat of arms, and green at hoist.
Coat of arms: Quarterly, 1. Argent a Cross of Alcántara vert, 2. Vert a branch of ash [fresno] argent, 3. Gules a castle argent masoned sable, 4. Argent a lion rampant purpure. The shield surmounted by a Royal crown closed.
