The flag of Le Nouvion-en-Thiérache (photo, photo) is quartered blue and white with the greater coat of arms in the center, "Gules a bend sinister argent. The shield surrounded by a palm wreath vert and a War Cross proper in base. THe shield surmounted by a five-tower mural crown or".
The genuine arms of the town are "Gules a bend sinister or", that is the arms of the Avesnes lineage. Eugène Harot (Les armoiries des villes et communes du département de l'Aisne, 1930) shows the bend sinister argent.
After the First Wolrd War, Le Nouvion-en-Thiérache was awarded the War Cross with two palms. Oddly enough, the palms are not drawn on the green and red ribbon of the medal, but are represented in a wreath surrounding the shield.
The 5 towers of the mural crown refer to the dukes of Guise.
This flag is flown together with a white flag with the graphic elements of the logo, without text.
The logo shows two trees (maybe the oaks of the forest of Le Nouvion, or the American tulip trees planted in the 19th century in the grounds of the castle of Nouvion), a blue disk with yellow stars probably for its European commitment, a medium blue area probably for the lake Condé.
